The government of Kerala has announced financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for each of the 30 Keralites who were injured in a tragic building fire in Kuwait. This incident, which occurred in June 2024, claimed the lives of 49 people, including Malayalis. The fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit and spread quickly throughout the building, resulting in many deaths from smoke inhalation. The government had previously allocated Rs 5 lakh for the families of the deceased.
