Excise department to intensify special enforcement drive in district for Onam

The Excise department is cracking down on illicit liquor sales during the Onam season in the district. They are intensifying enforcement efforts, dividing the district into zones with striking force units working around the clock. A total of 843 Abkari cases, 312 NDPS cases, and 6,582 COTPA cases have been registered from December 2023 to August 2024, with significant seizures of drugs, tobacco products, and fake liquor. The department has conducted 2,146 awareness programs against drug use and is working with other enforcement agencies to prevent illegal activities in coastal areas.
