The Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (ERCMPU) is going green by becoming a fully solar-powered dairy cooperative. The 2-MW solar power project will be dedicated at the Thripunithura plant on November 9th. The total cost of the project is ₹16 crore, with funding from the Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Scheme and the regional union’s funds. The project includes floating solar panels in the dairy compound’s lake and on-ground panels spread over 4.7 acres. This initiative showcases the Indian dairy industry’s commitment to green energy and environmental stewardship.
