Doctor arrested on charge of illegal abortion

A 68-year-old doctor named Jose Joseph was arrested by the Kilikollur police for performing an illegal abortion on an underage girl at his hospital in Krishnapuram. The police had filed a case against him for not keeping proper records, destroying evidence, and adding false information to the records. Dr. Joseph is also accused in similar cases in other police stations. He had been released on bail in a previous case with the condition that he should not be involved in similar cases. The arrest was made by a team led by Kollam Assistant Commissioner of Police M. Sheriff on the instructions of District Police Chief (Kollam City) Chaitra Teresa John.
