A meat rendering plant near the airport in Thiruvananthapuram is expected to be operational by May 2025 to reduce bird strikes on aircraft. The city corporation is finalizing a private partner to operate the facility, with one company set to be selected this week. The rendering plant will manage poultry waste from slaughterhouses in the area, helping to eliminate waste accumulation that attracts birds to the airport. Additionally, a modern slaughterhouse at Kunnukuzhy is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned in March. The rendering plant and slaughterhouse are part of efforts to address environmental concerns and improve waste management practices in the region.
