Coast Guard clean-up drive held in Kochi



Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Tourism Suresh Gopi recently kicked off coastal clean-up efforts at Fort Kochi and Kuzhuppilly beaches, organized by the Indian Coast Guard and others. The event, held on International Coastal Clean-up Day, saw volunteers from various organizations and government agencies come together to collect a total of 1,800 kg of litter from the beaches. The focus was on raising awareness about beach pollution and the importance of maintaining clean coastlines to protect our oceans and beaches. Additionally, a separate clean-up initiative was conducted in Fort Kochi in collaboration with educational institutions and research organizations, resulting in the removal of over 1,100 kg of waste, including a significant amount of plastic. The collected materials were properly disposed of or recycled.
