Civil police officer booked on rape charge

The Thampanoor police have registered a case against a civil police officer for allegedly raping a woman doctor. The accused reportedly befriended the survivor on Instagram and lured her to a lodge in Thampanoor, where he raped her under the promise of marriage. It is believed that he hid the fact that he was already married. The accused is said to have fled the state after going on leave. The survivor also accused him of being involved in a sex racket.
