Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has canceled the additional marks awarded to former SFI woman functionary K Diana by Calicut University for her 2009 MA examination after eight years. This decision came after a complaint by Save University Campaign Committee chairman R S Sasikumar, who argued that the university regulations did not allow for the alteration of internal marks based on attendance. Despite initially being denied the extra marks in 2010, Diana was awarded them in 2018 following a recommendation from the new department head. The governor’s decision to revoke the marks also comes amid a defamation case filed by Diana against Sasikumar and others. She has been working as an assistant professor in the university’s women’s studies department for four years.
