BJP councillors in Thripunithura municipality demand apology from vice chairperson over alleged casteist slur

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillors in Thripunithura municipality are planning to protest at Statue Junction, demanding an apology from K.K. Pradeep Kumar, vice chairperson of the civic body. The BJP councillors accuse Kumar, who is from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], of making casteist remarks against a BJP councillor and disrespecting Hindu cremation rituals. The alleged incident occurred during a council meeting on September 25, where Kumar reportedly made offensive comments. Kumar denies the accusations, stating that he did not make any casteist remarks and was simply defending the Hindu customs related to cremation. The BJP councillors have been organizing protests against Kumar, leading to tensions between the two parties.
