A 65-year-old art teacher was sentenced to 12 years in prison for abusing a sixth-grade student. The judge also ordered the teacher to pay a fine of ₹20,000, which will go to the child. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional four months of imprisonment. The teacher had been conducting drawing classes for the child. Prosecution was represented by Special Public Prosecutor R.S. Vijay Mohan and Athiyannur R.Y. Akhilesh. This incident occurred in Thiruvanathapuram and the verdict was passed on October 28, 2024.
