The All Kerala Aquaculture Promoters’ Union is demanding financial sanctions for the JMK program and immediate payment of wage arrears for aquaculture promoters. They are organizing an indefinite Secretariate dharna starting on November 8 to bring attention to the issue. Fish farmers are facing delays in receiving hatchlings and fear significant losses if the situation continues. The union claims that the Finance department and the Kerala State Planning Board are responsible for the wage delays and are neglecting the inland fish farming sector. The JMK program aims to enhance aquaculture production, provide employment, and support fish farmers, but the lack of approval and funding is hindering its success. Trade union leaders will address the dharna starting on November 8.
