Anvar, CPI(M) trade ‘communal’ charges

The situation between LDF’s independent MLA P.V. Anvar and the CPI(M) turned ugly with accusations of communalism. Anvar accused CPI(M) district secretary of hating him because he is Muslim, while the secretary called Anvar a traitor and gold smuggler. The parties traded barbs with Anvar’s supporters demonstrating against the CPI(M), and some threatening to dump him in a river. However, Anvar had supporters as well, with flex boards praising him as a warrior. Anvar claimed that many who participated in the protests against him were actually his supporters who had no choice but to join.
