The government in Thiruvananthapuram is not making any promises about starting a vigilance probe against ADGP M R Ajith Kumar, despite recommendations from the state police chief and a private complaint to the vigilance director. The allegations against Kumar, made by Nilambur MLA P V Anvar, suggest that there may be discrepancies between his declared assets and what he actually owns. The petition for a probe has been forwarded to the government for approval, as per the rules. The law also states that the VACB can only investigate with government permission if the alleged offense is related to the public servant’s official duties. The request for a probe is currently awaiting the chief minister’s decision.
