Actor and legislator M. Mukesh was arrested by the special investigation team (SIT) in a rape case registered against him by the Kochi City police. He was interrogated for over three hours before his arrest and will be released after a medical examination. Mr. Mukesh, a CPI(M) MLA, was among the first from the Malayalam film industry to be booked in the wake of complaints by women actors following the Hema Committee report. The case was registered by the Maradu police based on a complaint by a junior woman actor.
