Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, Catholicos of Jacobite Syrian Church, laid to rest

The Catholicos of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church, Baselios Thomas I, passed away at the age of 95. People from various backgrounds came together at the Patriarchal Centre in Puthen Cruz to pay their respects and attend the funeral. The funeral service lasted from 3 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. and was attended by prominent figures such as Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and actor Mammooty. The Catholicos’s remains were laid to rest on the church premises. Elaborate traffic and parking arrangements were made for the event, which drew tens of thousands of mourners.
