A.K. Balan, a CPI(M) central committee member and former State Minister, has supported the claim made by LDF Independent candidate P. Sarin that UDF candidate Shafi Parambil received some LDF votes in the 2021 Assembly election. Balan stated that Sarin’s allegation was valid, as the LDF typically receives neutral votes, which went to the UDF in 2021. He challenged the Congress to explain how their majority decreased significantly from 2016 to 2021. Balan also mentioned that the ongoing by-election in Palakkad does not have the BJP in the top three positions, emphasizing that the main competition is between the LDF and UDF.
