A recent report in Kottayam has revealed that 34.2% of ambulances operating in Kerala are unfit to be on the road. Out of 9,833 registered ambulances, only 6,507 have valid fitness certificates. The report was prepared by the Health Department and inspections were conducted by the Motor Vehicles Department. The survey, which began in June 2023, has been completed and the Health Department has been instructed to take appropriate action based on the findings. This highlights the need for better maintenance and monitoring of ambulance fleets to ensure the safety of patients.
