₹1,300-crore development project unveiled for Thiruvananthapuram airport

A new design for Terminal 2 of Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, part of the ‘Project Anantha’ initiative, was unveiled at the TRV Growth Conclave. The design is inspired by Kerala’s iconic temples, featuring cascading steps and terraced levels. With an investment of ₹1,300 crore over the next three years, the airport will be expanded to handle almost 12 million passengers per annum. The new terminal will include an airport plaza, a hotel, commercial and administration block, and more parking space. Additional facilities such as a new ATC tower and international cargo complex will also be added. Despite upcoming runway recarpeting, the airport is expected to handle 50 lakh passengers this fiscal year.
