Justice Sanjiv Khanna has been appointed as the 51st Chief Justice of India and will take oath on November 11. He will serve a little over six months as CJI and will retire on May 13, 2025. Justice Khanna has been a judge in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court, with notable judgments including upholding the use of electronic voting machines and declaring the electoral bond scheme unconstitutional. He is the nephew of former Supreme Court judge H R Khanna and has granted bail to politicians like Arvind Kejriwal in the past.
