Recently in Pune, there have been over 111 cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), a rare but treatable neurological disorder. Health experts are warning about potential triggers, with contaminated food and water being highlighted as a key cause. Gastroenteritis, often from unsafe food handling, can lead to GBS. To prevent this, it’s advised to avoid eating out and ensure food and water safety. Symptoms of GBS include tingling in hands and feet, weakness, and potential paralysis. While hospitalization and ventilatory support may be needed for severe cases, early treatment within two weeks can be effective. It’s important to take necessary precautions and not panic.
