Farmers and villagers in Kappatralla and nearby villages protested against a proposed meeting by various departments to educate them on uranium exploration in the forest area. They staged a dharna and demanded the government to drop the proposal. Officials had planned the meeting to gather feedback but the locals refused to interact with them. The protesting villagers also met with the district in-charge Minister to seek cancellation of permissions for uranium exploration. The Minister assured them that he will bring up the issue with the Chief Minister to do justice to the farmers and villagers.
