Two overground workers, linkman held in Upper Assam

Security forces in Assam apprehended two overground workers and one linkman of the United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA-I) in separate operations in Upper Assam. The individuals were identified as Ujjal Gohain, Shashanka Rajkhowa, and Prem Newar. They were in communication with senior ULFA-I commanders via WhatsApp. The arrests were made following intelligence sharing between Military Intelligence, Assam Police, and the Inspector General of Police. The ongoing joint operations aim to dismantle remaining ULFA-I networks in the region. These arrests come after a foiled abduction attempt of an ONGC employee by ULFA-I members. Authorities emphasized the importance of these operations in maintaining stability in Assam and countering insurgency threats.
