Trivandrum Airport Sees Record Passenger Surge During Onam Festival | Thiruvananthapuram News

During the Onam festival, the Trivandrum International Airport saw a significant increase in passenger traffic, serving over 2.36 lakh passengers from Sept 1 to 17. The number of passengers travelling on domestic routes was more than 1.3 lakh, while 1.12 lakh passengers were on international sectors. This marked a 14% increase compared to the previous year. Bengaluru and Abu Dhabi were the most popular routes during this time. The airport authorities took measures to prevent congestion and ensure passenger safety, as most travellers were returning home for the festival holidays. However, the increase in demand also led to a rise in airfare, with some one-way domestic fares exceeding Rs 10,000 on metro routes.
