A tribal woman panchayat president in Villupuram boycotted a meeting to protest against the inaction of the district administration on a caste discrimination complaint she had filed. She demanded action against the deputy panchayat president and her husband for preventing her from carrying out her duties. Despite submitting a petition to the district collector a month ago, she felt her pleas were ignored. Former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami criticized the DMK government for failing to uphold social justice, causing social injustice.
