Transport officials book cases against private bus operators for ‘fleecing passengers’



As Dasara comes to an end, officials in Andhra Pradesh cracked down on private bus operators who were overcharging passengers during the festival rush. In NTR district, 151 operators were booked and 16 buses were seized for hiking up ticket prices. The Road Transport Authority conducted surprise checks and found violations such as lack of proper documents, tax evasion, and unreasonable ticket prices. A fine of ₹28,24,654 was collected from the operators. The authorities warned against taking advantage of passengers and stated that surprise checks will continue to ensure fair practices among private bus operators.
