The Cybercrime police in Ahmedabad have registered a case against seven users of a social media platform for allegedly spreading false information about the quality of ghee used at the Tirupati temple. This sparked a political controversy, with claims of adulterated ghee being used. However, GCMMF, the company behind the Amul brand, denied supplying ghee to the temple. A complaint was lodged by an employee of GCMMF, stating that these tweets were meant to harm the company’s reputation. The police have registered a case under various sections, pointing out that these tweets were intended to spread false information and incite hostility.
