City police in Thiruvananthapuram have requested the state police chief to hand over the investigation into the Thiruvithamcore Cooperative Society fraud to the economic offences wing. With a total of 85 cases registered so far and nearly 50 more complaints to go, police are expediting the process to transfer the case to the EOW. An initial inquiry found irregularities worth Rs 30 crore. Depositors who were cheated are urging others to come forward with complaints. The registration department is also investigating to determine the total amount lost and the involvement of administrative panel members. Once the total amount lost is quantified, the liability of each accused will be calculated based on their roles in the fraud.
