Thiruvananthapuram: Govt set to approve Outer Area Growth Corridor (OAGC) project in Thiruvananthapuram | Thiruvananthapuram News

The state government is set to approve the master plan submitted by the Capital Regional Development Project-II (CRDP) for the proposed Outer Area Growth Corridor (OAGC) in Thiruvananthapuram. This corridor will be located on either side of the planned Outer Ring Road (ORR) project. The approval is expected in the next two weeks. The CRDP is working closely with the state government to ensure that all aspects of the master plan meet necessary standards and address the needs of the community. To expedite the process, a meeting will be convened with government representatives within the next two weeks to address and clarify certain points in the master plan. The master plan includes a draft report of the Special Investment Region (SIR) Act to develop a special investment zone. The plan also proposes forming eight clusters from Vizhinjam to Navaikulam, initially managed by a government-constituted special purpose vehicle (SPV). However, the state finance department is yet to give its final nod to the ORR project. The ORR project is seen as a pivotal development plan for Thiruvananthapuram, aimed at easing traffic congestion, promoting balanced regional development, and boosting economic activities in the city’s outer areas.
