During a recent standing committee meeting in Ahmedabad, a proposal to widen a 300-meter long road in Thaltej was approved. The expansion will require the demolition of 188 properties, including residential homes, commercial units, and open plots. Those affected will receive compensation in the form of transferable development rights. The decision to provide TDR to affected individuals follows a similar policy implemented in the past for a road widening project in Vastrapur village. The initial plan called for a wider road, but adjustments were made to minimize property loss. The current road is unable to handle traffic efficiently, especially due to metro pillars obstructing vehicle movement. In addition, a proposal to widen a road in Asarwa was also approved during the meeting.
