Telangana mulls ban on egg mayonnaise as cases of food poisoning surge | Hyderabad News

The Telangana government is considering banning egg mayonnaise due to multiple instances of food poisoning linked to its consumption. Food safety officials have identified at least 10 cases of contamination in the state this year alone. In the most recent incident, four people from Secunderabad were hospitalized after consuming mayo-filled shawarma. Similar incidents have occurred in the past, such as in Alwal where 17 people fell ill due to contaminated mayo. Kerala had previously banned the production and storage of raw egg mayonnaise in 2023. If Telangana implements the ban, egg mayo would be the first edible product to be banned in the state.
