Pixxel has introduced Fireflies, a constellation of six high-resolution hyperspectral satellites that will provide critical data for various applications such as early detection of crop diseases and monitoring deforestation and ocean pollution. With their advanced imaging capabilities, the Fireflies satellites aim to support efforts in fighting climate change, enhancing food security, and promoting sustainable resource management. Pixxel’s CEO, Awais Ahmed, believes that Fireflies will revolutionize our understanding of the planet and help make informed decisions for a better future. The start-up plans to expand the constellation to 24 satellites to make hyperspectral data more widely accessible and drive impactful, data-informed decisions for the planet.
