Southwest monsoon withdraws from country; Mumbai sees unusual October rain surge | Mumbai News



The IMD has announced the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the entire country, including Mumbai, one week later than usual. October has seen significant rainfall, exceeding the monthly average at the Colaba observatory. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad. The monsoon onset was earlier than usual, and Mumbai received the highest cumulative rainfall in the past three years. Light to moderate rain may continue in Mumbai until Saturday, and Thane may experience thunderstorms on Oct 18-19.
