In a historic move, Tamil Nadu will now have a father-son duo as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, has been appointed as the Deputy CM, marking the first instance of this kind in India since Punjab’s Badal family. The announcement came after pressure from senior party members and colleagues. Udhayanidhi’s promotion was approved by the Governor, along with the induction of other ministers. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Sunday. Udhayanidhi, an actor-politician, has quickly risen through the ranks in his four-year political career. He will take on the planning and development portfolio in addition to his existing responsibilities. The cabinet reshuffle also saw the removal of three ministers and the appointment of new members.
