Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk and around 170 others embarked on a journey from Leh in Ladakh to Delhi to advocate for the inclusion of Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution for special protection of tribal regions. After being detained by Delhi Police at Singhu border, Wangchuk and his supporters reached Rajghat, where they ended their indefinite fast and submitted a memorandum to the Union home ministry representatives. The supporters, detained at various police stations, were eventually released and joined Wangchuk at Rajghat. Wangchuk’s peaceful march received a warm welcome in other states, with supporters expressing their agreement with his cause and the need for safeguards for Ladakh’s natural beauty and rights.
