Sadanand Tharwal, the Kalyan Lok Sabha District President of Shiv Sena, resigned from the party in protest after another member, Dipesh Mahatre, was given an Assembly ticket in Dombivli. Tharwal, who wanted to contest the election himself, felt overlooked and questioned the party’s loyalty to those who have supported it through difficult times. He expressed disappointment in his resignation letter, highlighting that those who criticized senior leaders were being rewarded while loyal supporters were being ignored. Tharwal had been with Shiv Sena since 1980 and had remained with Uddhav Thackeray during a previous party split, supporting candidates like Vaishali Darekar in past elections.
