The Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers’ Association (TNGCTA) is requesting the Higher Education Department to send back teachers who were redeployed from Annamalai University to government colleges back to their parent institution. The faculty members were sent on deputation due to a financial crisis in 2016, with an agreement for a three-year period that has been extended multiple times. This has resulted in job aspirants being denied opportunities based on social justice principles. TNGCTA suggests that the redeployed staff from Annamalai University should fill vacant posts in State Universities instead of becoming permanent in government colleges. They believe this would benefit both students and teachers.
