Saroj Sharma, the chairperson of NIOS, has been appointed as the new vice chancellor of IITE in Ahmedabad for a single five-year term. This appointment aims to give the university national exposure. The previous VC, Harshad Patel, left his position early for another appointment, leaving the university facing challenges without a leader. Kalpesh Pathak had been overseeing the duties in the interim. Sharma had previously applied for VC positions at other universities without success. The university also faced controversies over the registrar’s appointment and disagreements over PhD guides and terminated projects.
