The split of the Asom Sonmilito Morcha alliance has made it challenging for the Congress in the upcoming Behali by-poll, according to Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi. There have been disagreements among alliance partners, particularly between the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) and Congress, over selecting a united Opposition candidate. Gogoi assured supporters that these issues are temporary and will be resolved soon. He emphasized that the Congress is committed to addressing the needs of the people of Behali, engaging with tea tribes and the Gorkha community during the campaign. The Congress nominee, Jayanata Bora, will face off against the BJP’s Diganta Ghatowar in the upcoming by-polls. Both parties are intensifying their campaign efforts, setting the stage for a competitive contest in Behali.
