Revolutionizing Education: 10 Bagless Days for Indian School Students | Mumbai News

The new curriculum framework for school education in Mumbai includes 10 ‘bagless’ days for students in classes VI to VIII, allowing them to gain practical experience in vocational education through activities like carpentry, pottery, electrical work, and gardening. Students will interact with local artisans and craftsmen, learn about businesses, and appreciate heritage preservation. Vocational courses will be introduced alongside regular subjects, with four classes per week starting from class VI. Online courses will be available during holidays. The initiative aims to ensure all students are exposed to skill education and can develop trades. Some schools have already implemented vocational subjects, and the state has introduced new courses for class XI. ‘Bagless days’ complement the ‘Happy Saturday’ programme, encouraging fun activities for students in classes I to VIII.
