The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is launching a special drive called ‘Prathi Intlo Inkudu Guntha’ to encourage consumers to build rainwater harvesting pits in houses with an area of 300 sq. metres and above. Despite the rule existing for a long time, surveys have shown that implementation has been poor. The Board has conducted a survey and found that more than 51% of the houses surveyed did not have an RWH pit. Advisory letters will be issued to consumers, starting with those who rely on water tankers for their daily needs, to construct or repair an RWH pit. Defaulters will be charged double for water tanker delivery starting from January 2025.
