Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will be inaugurating the final assembly line for the C295 plane at Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. in Vadodara. This project is a significant part of the “Make in India” initiative in the aerospace sector and marks the first private sector facility in India to produce military aircraft. The Indian Air Force will operate the Airbus C295 transport aircraft built at this plant, with plans to replace the older Avro-748 fleet. The first ‘Make in India’ C295 is expected to be ready by September 2026, with the final aircraft delivered by August 2031. Discussions are also ongoing about setting up a maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility for C295 aircraft in India to support not only the Indian Air Force but other operators in the region as well.
