One year down, 8.5% of targeted households have rooftop solar installations

The PM Surya Ghar scheme, launched by the Centre, has seen 8.5 lakh households installing rooftop solar connections so far. The scheme aims to have one crore household installations across India. While there have been some delays, the government is working towards covering 12 lakh households in the current financial year. The scheme provides subsidies for solar units, making renewable energy more affordable for households. India is making significant progress in renewable energy, with plans to add 50 GW of new capacity annually. The country’s installed renewable capacity has increased by 200% in the last 10 years, making it a leader in affordable renewable energy.
