No confidence in Tamil Nadu police: HC sends Chennai child rape case to CBI

The Madras High Court has decided to transfer the Anna Nagar child rape case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) due to lack of confidence in the Tamil Nadu police. The court expressed concern over the delayed arrest of the prime suspect and the mistreatment of the victim and her family. The judges found the handling of the case to be in violation of the Pocso Act and ordered police protection for the survivor and her family. The court also questioned why no FIR was filed against the police inspector who recorded the victim’s statement without her mother present.
