The daily average ridership of Namma Metro in Bengaluru is expected to reach 8 lakh soon, but the lack of parking spaces near stations is becoming a major issue. Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya has called for the expansion and capacity-building of parking facilities to improve first- and last-mile connectivity. Currently, only a few stations offer parking, leading to overcrowding and inconvenience for commuters. Surya suggested utilizing the space beneath Metro stations for parking and emphasized the importance of proper auditing and reporting of parking capacities. He believes that improving public transport infrastructure is crucial for reducing traffic congestion in the city.
