Mumbai: Coastal road pothole repairs anger motorists | Mumbai News

People in Mumbai are expressing concerns on social media about the quality of repairs being done on the north-bound stretch of the coastal road near Haji Ali junction by the BMC. Many are questioning the effectiveness of the work being carried out and are calling for better accountability of taxpayers’ money. Activist Zoru Bhathena expressed frustration over the bumpy ride from Chowpatty to Worli, criticizing the quality of the repairs done on the road. The BMC sources explained that mastic asphalting was done as a precaution to prevent potholes, but it was done just before the monsoon, causing the road to be exposed to rain before it could settle properly. Post-monsoon milling will be conducted to ensure an even surface. Additionally, one arm of the coastal road arch bridge is expected to open this month.
