The Water Resources Minister of Tamil Nadu, Duraimurugan, stated that the state government is working towards increasing the water storage level in the Mullaperiyar dam to 152 feet. This comes in response to criticism from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. Duraimurugan emphasized that the state has always prioritized Tamil language and state rights, and urged AIADMK to stop politicizing the inter-state water dispute. The government has taken various steps, including reaching out to the Prime Minister and Union Jal Shakti Minister, as well as moving additional petitions in the Supreme Court. Meetings and legal actions have been taken to address the Mullaperiyar dispute.
