A couple from Gozaria village in Mehsana was caught at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi for possessing tampered passports. The couple had torn pages of their passports on the instructions of their travel agent. It was discovered during immigration clearance that pages with fake visa stamps had been removed. The police have filed a case of cheating against the couple and are investigating the matter. This incident is part of a larger scheme where fake visa stamps are used to obtain visas for European countries and eventually travel to the US illegally. Another individual from Ahmedabad was also apprehended at the airport for a similar offense in the past.
