In the 2021 Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections, 24 Congress councillors were elected, and Shehzadkhan Pathan was appointed the leader of the opposition a year later, with an agreement to rotate the position annually. However, this arrangement was not followed, leading to discontent in one faction of the party. Congress is now seeking the opinion of its councillors on a potential replacement for Pathan, and if necessary, an election will be held. The election committee of the Gujarat Congress will meet at the party’s state office on Tuesday to discuss this issue, although a final resolution may not be reached on the same day.
