Medical Tourism: Bengaluru to Enhance Medical Tourism by Cutting Out Middlemen |



The health and family welfare department in Bengaluru is looking at ways to provide quality medical care to international patients at reasonable costs, amidst concerns of middlemen profiting from medical tourism. Health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao suggested creating a government portal listing accredited hospitals in the city to ensure transparency and prevent exploitation. With over 92 accredited hospitals in Karnataka, the tourism department is considering combining health tourism with wellness tourism to attract foreign patients. Bengaluru sees patients from various countries coming for elective surgeries, such as knee and hip replacements.
