The BJP won 7 out of 12 ward committees in the Delhi MCD Ward Committee elections, beating the ruling AAP party, which won 5 committees. BJP MP Yogender Chandolia accused AAP of trying to control the standing committee by delaying the elections. The results came after Delhi’s lieutenant governor ordered the MCD commissioner to appoint presiding officers for the polls, following Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s refusal due to concerns about the election process being undemocratic. The last-minute intervention aims to end uncertainty about the polls.
